STDs are Scary So Read This

STD statistics show that there has been a steady rise of such cases not only in the United States but across the globe. The increase of syphilis cases among men and women alike form a huge part of this alarming trend. Part of the STD statistics is the rise in cases of chlamydia, as well as gonorrhea.

There may also be a problem as far as STD statistics is concerned. It is very possible that the statistics does not include the undetected cases, for example with chlamydia, because you normally do not exhibit symptoms so you might be aware that you have it. Needless to say the rise in the numbers are still alarming.

One the other hand, there is a high percent of people who have gonorrhea, Chlamydia or syphilis. For instance, ten years ago in the united States, there were more or less a million people documented to be suffering from Chlamydia. That number was apparently higher than it was in the previous year. At the same time, there were 350000 diagnosed with gonorrhea in 2007. The numbers seem to grow steadily over the last decade.

Those numbers go to show that gonorrhea and chlamydia, by far, are the most wide spread of all STDs. Though chlamydia rarely shows symptoms, it is easy to detect. The same is true with gonorrhea. The amazing news is that there is a cure for these two diseases especially when they are diagnosed early. On the other hand, if both diseases are not treated, there will be complications like infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease in females. A women who has untreated STD is at high risk of developing chronic pelvic pain and suffering ectopic pregnancy.

On the other hand, men can contract either gonorrhea or chlamydia but the former rarely affects men. Oppositely, gonorrhea poses more health risks among. Not only does this disease put them at risk of infertility but they the infection can make its way to joints and the blood stream. In worst cases it can lead to death.

What is the moral lesson in this story? This mean that men and women alike should become more aware about the risks that these STDs carry. Awareness helps people avoid these kinds of diseases as well as informs people of the necessary steps to take if they get these diseases.

As the STD statistics show increase in the number of these cases, the more should people should practice safetly. The statistics is basically a reminder that it is better to monogamous as much as possible or avoid having multiple partners. The right use of latex can also help avoid the spread of these diseases.

Get your self checked if you have someone new in your life. For cases where your partner is having an affair, it is better to get screened. Awareness will help keep the numbers low.
